In the spirit of trying (almost) anything once, I have recently been dabbling in a little HDR photography. This is an imperfect attempt that I produced from three exposures (-2.33, -0.33, +1.67) I took today up at Mt Tamborine. I do like the textures, especially on the mossy rock and on the trunk of the tree to the right of the path. However, the image is very grainy - I presume because I have not yet purchased a license for the software I am using (Photomatix).
Feedback from anyone in the know about HDR would be most welcome!
Have I mentioned how much I love photographing kids in hats? My all-time favourite hat photo is this one of Xander. Here are a couple of more recent ones of my kids in silly hats. At the moment I’m experimenting with some basic studio lights borrowed from my Dad. The photo of Claire makes use of the lights - I haven’t quite got it right yet, but I’m having fun trying!

On 29th October, Rick and I welcomed our second child, Claire Elise Robinson. She is every bit as sweet as she appears in this photo, taken in the hospital when she was just one day old.

I found this poor little fellow on my dining room floor this morning. He was alive, but only just. I feel oddly sad when I think that my camera and I witnessed his final moments. I’m sure he was taking us in with those enormous eyes of his.

I shot this with a set of extension tubes and a studio light that I borrowed from my Dad.
This female Superb Fairy-wren was enjoying the birdbath at Mum and Dad’s this afternoon. I had hopes of capturing the spectacular blue male, but it wasn’t to be.
